#1 Capture the Screenshot using the Snipping Tool
If you don’t know about this tool, let me tell you. Snipping Tool is a pre-installed application from windows especially for capturing screenshots. It has been in use since the launch of Windows Vista.
To run this tool, navigate to Start menu > All programs > Windows Accessories > Snipping Tool. Open it up and click on “New“. This will start the screenshot process. Now you can use your mouse cursor to crop a rectangular part of your screen and capture the screenshot.
Although the tool saves the screenshot on your clipboard, it does not save the screenshots on its own. You need to manually save the screenshot.
#2 Capture the Screenshot with Print Screen key
To capture the entire screen of your Windows PC, let it be windows 10/8/7, Print Screen key could do the work for you. Navigate to the screen you need to capture a screenshot of. Now just press the “Print Screen” on your keyboard. This will capture the screen of your Windows PC.
But remember one thing that this will only capture the screen, not save the screenshot. Technically, the screenshot has been saved to your clipboard. Now you can paste the image anywhere you want, be it an email or any other social media platform.

#3 Capture the Screenshot with Windows Key + Print Screen key
Annoyed by copying the screen and then pasting it later on a different tool to save the final file? Well, you should then use the Windows Key + Print Screen key to capture the screenshot.
Just navigate to the screen you want to be captured and press Windows key + Print Screen key. Now you see a small blink on your screen. This is to notify you that the screenshot has been successfully captured.
You can always access these screenshots from this location: C:\Users\RA\Pictures\Screenshots. Now you have directly saved screenshots without any trouble. To be honest, this is my personal favorite way of capturing a screenshot on a Windows PC.
#4 Capture the Screenshot with Windows Key + H key
If you want to capture a screenshot especially for sharing it with your friends on social media platforms, this could be the best way to do so. To do this, just press the Windows Key + H key together. This will capture your entire screen and open a new dialog box. This dialog box is the Windows Share Toolbar. From here you can directly share the saved screenshots to Facebook, email, Twitter, etc.
#5 Capture the Screenshot with Alt key + Print Screen key
This method won’t capture the screenshot of your entire screen. Using this method you can capture the snap of the current window in use. For example, if you are working simultaneously on more than one application, it will capture a snap of only the currently active window.
To use this method, press the Alt key + Print Screen key to capture the currently active window. This will only copy the screenshot on your clipboard. To save the screenshot, you need to paste it on some editing tool like Microsoft Paint. Or you can directly paste it on an email or any other social media platform.
#6 Capture the Screenshot using the Snip Editor
The Snip Editor from Microsoft is another great tool used for capturing screenshots. This is similar to the Snipping tool is some ways but not totally. It lets you quickly capture the screenshot of the entire screen, entire window or a custom selected area. Not only this, you can also set the Print Screen key as the default shortcut key for Snip tool to capture the screenshot.
#7 Capture the Screenshot using the Windows Logo + Volume down
This is an exclusive method only for Surface devices from Microsoft. You can make use of the physical buttons provided in the surface book, just like in any smartphone that you use. For doing this, hold the Windows logo button and simultaneously press the volume down button located on the side of your device.
You will see a small blink on your screen to notify that the screenshot has been captured successfully. You can always these saved screenshots from this location: C:\Users\RA\Pictures\Screenshots.
